Your FWS Award

Georgetown University operates an open market student employment system that allows you to review job postings and make direct contact with the employer. Hundreds of jobs are available in departments throughout the University and at agencies approved to participate in our off-campus FWS program.

All job listings are accessible on-line through HoyaWorks! our job listings database. You must use your Net ID (issued through the Registrar's Office) to access the job listings on the web.

Consider your priorities before you apply for a position. What are your maximum FWS earnings for the year? How many hours a week do you want to work? Do you want to work days, evenings or weekends? What type of job are you most interested in? What experience do you hope to gain from holding a job?

Community Service Job Opportunities

The secondary, but equally important, purpose of the FWS program is to engender a sense of social responsibility and commitment to the community through community service job opportunities. Community service jobs are those in services designed to improve the quality of life for community residents, particularly low-income individuals, or to solve particular problems related to their needs. Numerous off-campus jobs, as well as a limited number of on-campus jobs, provide the opportunity for students to perform community service work in conjunction with earning the funds needed to meet educational costs. Positions range from tutoring in programs operated by Georgetown's Center for Social Justice to support or service positions in off-campus nonprofit agencies that serve local residents.

Working for an Off-Campus Organization

Georgetown's off-campus Federal Work-Study (FWS) program offers unique employment opportunities to eligible students. Non-profit organizations that operate to promote the public interest are eligible to participate in Georgetown's off-campus FWS program.  Off-campus organizations must be pre-approved for participation by the Georgetown Student Employment Office and must sign a contract with the University in order to participate in the off-campus FWS program.  Information on becoming an off-campus Federal Work-Study employer is available elsewhere on this website for any organization interested in being added to the program.  Students may contact the Georgetown Student Employment Office at finseo@georgetown.edu for more information.
