Hours: up to 20 per week Salary: $24.09 per hour Start date: April 8, 2026 (as soon as approved) End date: May 14, 2027 The RA will support ongoing research on the impact of health insurance on quality of care in Kenya and Nigeria. Specifically, the RA will provide support in developing a protocol that will guide the research on this topic. The support will take the form of conducting literature reviews, performing secondary data analysis, and writing the initial protocol drafts. In addition, the RA may provide assistance with analytics, grant writing, and external stakeholder engagement for an ongoing project on impact investing in private schools in LMICs. What skills we are looking for: The most important skill we are looking for is that you are willing to put in the time and effort required for the tasks, and that you communicate clearly regarding your responsibilities. Every person in the group that you will be joining is an equal contributor, so making your views clear and listening to others is critical. Then, for the tasks, you will need to be innovative in novel search and compilation strategies. For the analytical stuff, you will definitely need to be familiar with either STATA or R and have worked with data before. We also prefer a candidate who is familiar with incorporating the latest artificial intelligence tools into the research workflow. Finally, being able to write in a structured manner is a huge plus. Critically, having/not having these skills is not a deal-maker or breaker. Everyone is stronger at some things and weaker at others. Our commitment will be to work with you to build up the things you are weaker on, and your commitment to this group is to bring in your skills and talents to produce the material that you need to at the highest level. How we work: Our work is built around a group meeting that will take place every week, usually on Friday morning, for 2-3 hours. Depending on availability, we then go out for lunch after the meeting. During the meeting, we discuss each workstream and go over what has been done in the previous week and what needs to be ready for the next week. These meetings are in-person and not optional. Following the meeting, everyone does their own thing--but typically, there are many conversations and ideas bounced around during the week as well. No one is on their own, and everyone is usually a phone call away. Other logistics: We expect a commitment of 20 hours per week. The position is only open to rising second year Masters' students who will return for the 2026-2027 school year. How to apply: please complete the application in GMS, and attach your resume and a brief 2-paragraph write-up on your interests, strengths, and areas in which you'd like to focus your learning. |
