Job Description

The Global Health Initiative is accepting applications for a Student Communications Assistant ("SCA") to begin April 2020 and remain through the Summer (with a preference for someone who would be interested in remaining throughout the 2020-2021 Academic year. Principal responsibilities of the SCA include:
 

  1. Contribute to day-to-day website management

  2. Regularly monitor and engage with audiences on Twitter;

  3. Compile upcoming events, new research, and other news related to the university’s global engagement and global health activities and upload to website and Twitter;

  4. Build a network and brand awareness of Georgetown’s global health work through feature stories, social media, and other outreach efforts;

  5. Conceptualize, research, and draft features for the Global Georgetown and Global Health Initiative websites;

  6. Facilitate events specific to the GHI Student Fellows Program;

  7. Ability to attend a number of GHI sponsored events to live-tweet, capture photos, and publicize 

  8. Copy-edit communications materials and reports; and

  9. Other research and administrative projects as assigned. 

 

 

Job Requirements

This position requires strong writing and research skills; attention to detail; creativity; and the ability to both independently and collaboratively work on multiple projects under tight deadlines. Students with experience in journalism and communications are strongly encouraged to apply. Experience in graphic design, international affairs, and/or global health a plus.
