Job Description

Position Overview 

The PhD Graduate Research Assistant serves as a general-purpose research assistant to support Georgetown Law Center faculty who conduct empirical research. The PhD Graduate Research Assistant is part of the Library Research Services team and works under the supervision of the Empirical Research Services Librarian and the Head of Library Research Services. 

Specialized services provided by the PhD Graduate Research Assistant include identifying the correct empirical design for research projects, scraping publicly available data, data cleaning, technical writing of research papers, and executing analyses in code. 

Job Requirements

Requirements 
 

  • Education - At least a fourth year PhD candidate 

  • Interest in the intersection of law and economics

  • Expertise in econometric principles

  • Coding skills in Stata and either R or Python

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate findings and complex concepts to non-technical audiences

Compensation 

  • Based on GAGE Graduate Pay Scale. 
  • Available as a 9-month or 12-month appointment. 
  • The position will work a maximum of 15 hours per week. Some teleworking is possible.
